Fiber to the Cabinet (FTTC)

Slow Broadband – FTTC Could be the answer

FTTC – CUSTOMER CASE STUDY

Initial Investigation:

Tri-it was approached by one of our customers to see if we could find a solution to upgrade their slow BT broadband connection. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the customer was only able to obtain speeds of 6mb download and 0.3mb upload causing staff considerable frustration and wasted time.

Issue:

After researching the current availability in the area it became apparent that the location of the premises was the main barrier. The location prevented the premises from obtaining a connection to the high-speed broadband network from either BT or Virgin due to the prohibitive cost of digging up the road.

Solution:

Tri-it proposed an alternative solution which they knew from experience to be cost-effective and would provide the speed improvement the customer required. The solution proposed was fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC). This provides an attractive solution where normal high-speed broadband is unavailable and at a fraction of the cost of a leased line.

Outcome:

Tri-it arranged for the transfer of the customers broadband from BT ADSL to a Fibre to the cabinet connection. Tri-it undertook the technical aspect including upgrading the internal router to accept VDSL2. Following the introduction of FTTC, the customer now receives speeds of 60mb download and 20mb upload.

And the Cost….. Less than £50 per month
